Summer school+

animation camp for high school students

Summer School is a workshop camp for high school students dedicated to animation. The workshop will take place between 2-8 July in a rural area near Cluj. Accommodation in a cabin, food and equipment for the workshop will be provided by the organisers.

Participants will spend a week with two Romanian trainers, Anna Florea and Laura Pop, and Dave King, a Norway based artist. During the 7-day camp, they will benefit from a full and intense workshop, with the opportunity to create an animation for a music video. The workshop will be conducted predominantly in English.

Anna Florea is an illustrator, animator and director, co-founder of RIVULET studio and co-author of two animated short films "Mr. Anxiety goes on a date" (2016) and "Invisibles" (2020), made together with the collective 4inaroom.

Laura Pop is a multi-award winning animated film director. Laura has a BA in set design, an MA in animated film and a PhD in film studies in progress. She is interested in poetic cinema and her films offer philosophical perspectives on the self, the cycle of life and death.

Dave King was born in London, and throughout his career has worked as a writer and comic artist on newspapers, books, magazines, and comic strips for publications such as Marvel Comics UK, DC Comics, and Warner Bros Worldwide. Dave's portfolio includes Animaniacs, Barbie, Beetlejuice, Looney Tunes, and Rugrats. After 10 years teaching at the university level in Norway, he returned to the animation industry with his company, Dave King Creative. He works in animation as a director, producer, writer and storyboard artist.
